JACKSONVILLE – (Staff report from Official News Release0 – Fanatics, the multi-billion dollar online e-tailer for the NFL, MLB, the NBA, NASCAR, the NHL and hundreds of colleges and teams around the world, has clearly seen the jump to mobile at the start of this holiday season. Based in Jacksonville, Florida and with offices in New York, Fanatics will go from shipping around 100K items per day on a typical summer day to more than 1 million items a day as holiday season hits.
Between Black Friday and Christmas, Fanatics will process more than 10 million items alone and the company grows from 2,000 employees to more than 8,000, with more than 70 million visitors across the platform of sites expected during the month of December.
Since Thanksgiving Day (in the USA), mobile ordering has accounted for more than 50% of all sales across the Fanatics platform (more than 300 sites), which is a record for consecutive days of mobile being top sales platform. On Thanksgiving – Fanatics saw 56% of all sales come via mobile devices, including 42% just from phones (much higher than industry numbers that have come out the last few days). Consumers are much more comfortable making transactions on their smartphones, as phones are showing the biggest “year-to-year” conversion spikes for us among all platforms. Phone sales on Cyber Monday are trending in the mid-35% so far Monday, up from 20% from Cyber Monday a year ago.
