Wake Forest (6-6, 3-5), which lost for the fifth time in the last six games, had a late drive that ended in Mike Weaver’s missed 40-yard field goal with 1:22 left. This came after the Demon Deacons extended the possession with a fourth-down conversion. Wake Forest had one more chance, but defensive back Lucas Denis intercepted John Wolford with 15 seconds left.
Wolford threw a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes to rally Wake Forest from a 10-0 deficit. Wolford’s 37-yard strike to receiver Cortez Lewis with 4:53 to go in the third quarter put the Demon Deacons ahead for the first time.
Boston College, despite only 58 yards of total offense in the first half, led 10-0 at halftime.
Wolford threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Cam Serigne with 7:47 remaining in the third quarter to get Wake Forest on the board.
The Eagles went more than 105 minutes without being scored on since the fourth quarter of the Nov. 11 game at Florida State.
Boston College scored 10 first-quarter points after a pair of Wake Forest turnovers. Mike Knoll’s 22-yard field goal opened the scoring and running back Myles Willis ran 11 yards for a touchdown.
