NEW JERSEY – Ray Amati was a true, loyal, hard-working guy, a staff photographer for the NBA and Getty Images who knew how to interact with every person he met. He had a way about him. He was such a good guy. He lifted spirits, simply with a greeting and his smile.
He wanted to be at the game or the event we were at, and his demeanor always lifted us up. His smile is embedded in my eyes. Whether you were a suit or a player or a building worker, he knew you, knew your name and was genuinely happy to see you. A very, very rare person who will be missed.
If you are an NBA fan or a fan of Rock music, please take a minute and donate $5, $10 or $20 bucks in memory of a “behind the scenes” guy who made the NBA what it is, in terms of being a true NBA Family:
