NEW YORK – (Staff Report from Official news release) – Four BIG EAST teams are among the top 15 in the most recent Associated Press poll. Villanova dropped to No. 3 after last week’s in-Conference loss at Butler, and are followed by No. 8 – Creighton, No. 12 – Butler and No. 15 – Xavier. Seton Hall is the top conference entry among the unranked teams receiving votes. Creighton’s No. 8 ranking is the highest in school history.
The BIG EAST has four teams in the top 10 on Monday NCAA’s RPI — Villanova (1), Creighton (4), Butler (8) and Xavier (9).
The only game on Monday’s league schedule is St. John’s at Georgetown at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1. Tim Brando and Jim Jackson will have the call. The Hoyas have won the last 11 meetings against the Red Storm at the Verizon Center dating to 2003. St. John’s leads the all-time series 55-50. Georgetown is trying to snap a four-game losing streak. St. John’s has lost two straight.
Tuesday’s schedule has a pair of contests, including No. 3 Villanova hosting No. 15 Xavier at The Pavilion and Providence visiting DePaul. FS1 has the doubleheader starting at 7 p.m. ET.
