Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan had no update Monday on the injury to Mike Smith, who was hurt while making a save with 1.1 seconds left in Sunday’s 3-2 win at the New York Islanders. “It would be a huge blow for our team,” said Gulutzan, who was planning to start backup David Rittich against the red-hot Bruins. “Arguably, he’s been our MVP.” The Bruins could say the same about netminder Tuukka Rask, who had his 21-game point streak (19-0-2) snapped by Buffalo on Saturday for his first regulation loss since Nov. 26. Boston rebounded with a 5-3 victory at New Jersey 24 hours later to boost its record to 19-2-3 over the last 24 games.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (29-19-8): While Gulutzan is hoping to have a diagnosis on Smith by Tuesday, he lavished praise on Rittich, who is 5-1-2 — especially impressive since all seven of his starts have come on the road. “The biggest thing for me is his hockey IQ. He can read plays,” Gulutzan said. “There’s some practices he doesn’t let in a goal. He’s a dialed-in guy. His ability to read plays is tremendous.” Leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau, who played collegiately at Boston College, was named the NHL Second Star of the Week.
ABOUT THE BRUINS (34-12-8): Defenseman Torey Krug scored twice against New Jersey to reach 10 goals for the third time in five seasons and boost his point total to 13 over the past 12 games. “Torey’s found his game the second half,” Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Tends to be his MO throughout most of his career. He’s got good jump now and he’s feeling the game well. The puck has eyes for him, but he’s hitting the net more often.” Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has amassed 15 goals and 10 assists in the last 18 games.
1. Gaudreau has three goals and six assists during a six-game point streak.
2. Rask has never lost in regulation to the Flames, posting a 4-0-3 mark with a 1.61 goals-against average and two shutouts.
3. Calgary recalled G Jon Gillies from Stockton of the American Hockey League.
