CHAPEL HILL – (Staff Report from Official News Release) – Jordan Brand and the University of North Carolina, two brands with a history of greatness, have agreed to expand their partnership to make UNC the second collegiate football program to represent the Jumpman on the gridiron. The announcement was made by Michael Jordan during halftime of the UNC vs Duke basketball game tonight.
Now a new chapter in this celebrated partnership begins, as Jordan joined UNC head football coach Larry Fedora at halftime of the Carolina-Duke men’s basketball game to officially announce plans to bring the Jumpman to Kenan Memorial Stadium this fall.
Like the Jumpman, the argyle running down the shirts and shorts of UNC uniforms has become an iconic design synonymous with greatness in sport and unique to Chapel Hill.
Now, as on the hardwood, the argyle and Jumpman will bring a new level of style to the gridiron with a fresh, premium design that reflects the greatness of both brands.
The new look debuts on-field September 2 during the Tar Heels’ home opener against the University of California Golden Bears.
